CCM Canada Cycle & Motor Company has been in business for more than a century. An amalgamation of five bicycle manufacturing companies, CCM was formed to thwart an effort by an American competitor to open a manufacturing facility in Canada. That venture was ice hockey. In the early 1900`s, a leather skate boot was designed by a gentleman named George Tackaberry. This revolutionary design was acquired by CCM and, within 30 years, they held the dominant share of the hockey skate market.
